Things You May Want To Know About The iPhone 13

The iPhone 13 is expected to hit the market during the fall of 2021. Thanks to several iPhone 13 leaks and rumors from some authentic sources, we are now able to get a clear picture of this upcoming phone.

Last year’s iPhone 12 came with 5G support, an overall refreshed design, and a powerful chipset. The question is what to expect from the upcoming iPhone 13. Well, we expect the iPhone 13 series to bring four models to the market. These models may include an iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max.

Some rumors suggest that the company is focusing on refining the design, improving the internals, and bringing more powerful cameras on the market.

Moreover, the company will likely name the new series something other than the iPhone 13. Apple may choose to call it the iPhone 12S. They may release this phone in September 2021.

Leaks and rumors

As mentioned above, we expect Apple to release four models under the iPhone 13 umbrella: iPhone 13 Mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The company kept on launching three models in all previous series until 2020 when it launched four iPhone 12 models. Apple is expected to take the same route with the iPhone 13. However, it is also possible that the company will drop the Mini model because the iPhone 12 Mini didn’t do quite well last year.

Design and display

Since the company made significant design upgrades in the iPhone 12 handsets, we expect a similar design to continue in the iPhone 13 models. Some rumors suggest that the company may trim down the camera bump and introduce a matte black option for Pro models.

While the iPhone 12 didn’t come with a higher refresh rate despite some rumors suggesting otherwise, we may finally see iPhones sporting a higher refresh rate display this year. It is certainly good news for smartphone gamers.

It may be worth mentioning that there won’t be higher refresh rate panels in the Mini and regular iPhone 13.

Another leak suggests that there might be an addition of an always-on display. Android smartphones have been using this technology for quite a long time.

Another probable addition is an under-display fingerprint scanner. A lot of flagship phones use this technology, and rumors suggest that Apple may follow suit.

Camera

According to the industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the ultra-wide sensor in the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max may be bumped to an f/1.8, 6-element lens. The current iPhone 12 uses an f/2.4, five-element lens. A similar 6-element upgrade is expected for the telephoto lens.

As for the primary lens, there might be an aperture shift from f/1.6 to f/1.5. It should help improve the low-light performance of the phone. Some rumors suggest the addition of a periscope lens, but that doesn’t seem much probable this year.

Performance and battery

According to come reports, 2021 may be the year we see 1TB phones. This storage size will be available in the most expensive handsets, though. If this information is correct, there might be the launch of the most expensive iPhone ever just around the corner.

Speaking of the battery performance, Min-Chi Kuo suggested the possibility of the use of soft board technology, which could allow for physically smaller batteries without sacrificing the capacity. In fact, the iPhone 13 may come with a greater battery capacity.

As for the performance, the new iPhone may use an A15 chipset, which is going to be the most powerful smartphone process on the market. Reports suggest that it will be a 5nm chipset, which is the same size as the A14 process. It means that there won’t be a drastic performance improvement.
